I am concerned about the staff that will be responsible for my child while at camp. What are the requirements for your employees?
Instructors are professional educators. Overnight staff have experience in residential group housing, camp or youth programs. All staff members must agree to a background search.
Will I be able to visit my child while he/she is at camp?
Yes and no. We ask that you not meet with your child while camp is in session so that he/she can have a true "camp experience." Parents are encouraged to attend graduation and their child's model rocket launch.
My child is taking prescription medication. Do you have staff to assist them?
Yes. Overnight staff are required to take possession of prescription medications and see that your child takes them according to doctor's orders. We also encourage parents who have children on behavior medication to continue those medications during their camp program.
What about scholarships?
Currently we offer two camp scholarships in honor of Dr. John P. Stapp. One $100.00 scholarship to be applied to any half-day program and a second one of up to $475 to be applied to any full day or overnight program. Camp scholarship applications may be requested by contacting the NMMSH Education Dept. at 575-437-2840 or 877-333-6589. Hopefully, other scholarships will follow as funds accumulate. Parents may donate to the scholarship fund by contacting the NMMSH Education Dept.
